Built in 1968, Gaden House was designed by architect Neville Gruzman. Having fallen into disrepair, this heritage listed Modernist commercial building is now in need of careful restoration.
Taking into consideration significant community interest and heritage sensitivities, the design enhances the existing building by restoring key structural and aesthetic elements including the façade, curved concrete and glass staircase, metal-clad louvres, terrazzo details and circular lighting panels.
The proposal includes refurbishment of the existing levels and construction of additional levels which will carefully preserve its past, while at the same time provide contemporary levels of amenity. Gaden House will be re-established as a Double Bay landmark for generations to come.
